PROJECT BRIEF
For first responders from the fire brigade, rescue service and the armed forces, effective action and the correct assessment of dangerous situations – especially in major incidents – is essential. To acquire these skills, large-scale training with different first aid workers in an environment that is as realistic as possible is necessary. However, such scenarios are often too dangerous, expensive or time-consuming to recreate realistically enough – which reduces the training benefit. Mixed Reality (MR) technologies can realistically represent virtual threats within a physical training environment. There are currently a few solutions with MR concepts, but these offer insufficient freedom of movement. The interaction between first responders and real/virtual objects is neglected.
OUR APPROACH
We captured on-the-ground footage of multiple training situations in which the MRespond Augmented Reality application was used. The Magic Leap headset was used, and as Mindconsole was responsible for the creation of the application’s 3D assets, we were able to implement these assets into this Documentation, allowing the viewer to see an accurate representation of what the user of the application was seeing.
