Schepp decided to go for clean and friendly low poly style. The style should appeal to wide variety of people of all ages.
Following points were important for the development process:
Both parties have decided on fairly dynamic iteration process during the development. Quick mockups and fast feedback from our client allowed Mindconsole to progress fairly fast and fit all of the clients needs. Mindconsole have often received hints that created the whole picture. As an example, you can see here one of the first mockups of the UI made with Adobe XD and then the finished version.
One of the main challenges lied in creating the world for the runner procedurally. Since the duration of the therapy and the speed of perpedes is always different, Mindconsole needed to be able to create unlimited world. Making the world feel nice, comfortable and avoiding boring passages was essential. All of that was solved by custom made scattering system that places objects in different noise patterns. All of the objects, parameters and the scatter amount is easy to set up and exchange. You can see in the video below how the entire system works:
Another challenge was to exactly understand how Perpedes work in order to be able to create reliable reports from all of the therapy sessions. You can see all of the possible ratings that patient can look at on the right screenshot below. The key to solving this was close communication with the client and a lot of patience.
